I would love to run this race. I'm lacking a marathon in April 2012, and I'd like to compare this one to the Grandfather Mountain Marathon. There's nothing like finishing a tough mountainous marathon!

This race sounds extremely challenging...it would be great to tackle it as best I can while representing Dart proudly.

I'm tempted but this may conflict with my other race plans. We should give the ticket to someone else, and if I decide to go, then I'll have the company of another DARTer.

I've run the race both years and really enjoy it! The first year I had a great run in almost perfect weather. The second year, I sprained my ankle the day before the race and didn't know if I'd be able to run or not. I hobbled through the race, tackled the 3rd mountain thrown in at mile 17, and survived the monsoon conditions to finish before the race was cancelled due to thunder and lightning. I'd love to run the 3rd one to keep my streak going and to redeem myself from last year.

So there I was thinking of all of the reasons I might deserve to win a free entry when I came to the realization that I don't deserve it. Dave Munger does. In the past year, he's gone from a really good runner to a really great runner. In addition to his hard work, he had mentioned this marathon as being something that he really wanted to do this spring. Who better to win the Blue Ridge Marathon entry than the infamous 'Captain Dave' of Dart's Blue Ridge Relay team?

I doubt I’ll ever run a 3-hour marathon, and qualifying for Boston or New York is a long way off for me, so I have very little interest in finding the fastest, flattest course. But tackling “America’s Toughest Road Marathon,” and crossing the finish line just to prove I could do it…yeah…that’s about my speed.
